In todayโs world of fast-paced, high stress, technology-focused lifestyles, it can be easy to forget the healing powers of nature๐ฑ Iโll be honest with you - my weeks get so busy and my attention is stretched in so many different directions that I end up pushing down the things on my priority list that I know are good for me.
And thatโs ok! Iโm just keepinโ it one-hundo out here. But when I catch myself feeling too anxious, stressed or overwhelmed, one of the best things I do to reconnect with myself and get into a better mindset is to get into nature.
I mean, we all know how rejuvenating a breath of fresh air can be, right? But there are actually numerous incredible benefits that being in nature has on our health. Here are four benefits of spending time in the great outdoors:
โ
๐ซ Nature can reduce stress levels.
Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety levels. Studies have shown that spending time in nature can lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol. This can lead to reduced stress and anxiety, and an overall feeling of relaxation.
โ
๐ซ Nature can improve your mood.
If you're feeling down, spending time in nature can help improve your mood. Exposure to natural light and fresh air can help improve your mood and mental well-being. Being in nature can also increase levels of serotonin, a chemical that helps regulate mood and happiness. Research has even shown that people who exercised outdoors had higher self-esteem and were more satisfied with their lives than those who exercised indoors.
โ
๐ซ Nature can boost your energy levels.
If you're feeling tired, getting some fresh air in nature can be a great way to boost your energy levels. Even in terms of concentration and focus, spending time in nature has been shown to improve attention span and memory function. So if you're looking to boost your brain power, head outside for a walk or hike in the park!
โ
๐ซ Nature can improve your physical health.
Spending time in nature has been shown to have some impressive effects on physical health. Getting active in nature can help you get fit and healthy. Even just a moderate amount of exercise can improve your cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure, and reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Now, you may be thinking, โWhat has this got to do with veganism?โ๐ค
โ
Well, I truly believe that the mission to become more conscious consumers means so much more than just the products we purchase (although that is an important piece). Itโs also about becoming more conscious and connected in general. This means listening to our bodies, tapping into all things natural and taking a step back from the crazy lives we lead from time to time. Itโs a holistic approach to health and a mindset of self-love and self-care!
โ
And nature is something that I am consciously bringing into my own life and my kidsโ lives, because I know how healing and rejuvenating it can be๐คย
